Gokul Vegetarian Restaurant @ Upper Dickson Road

Good Evening readers :) Firstly, my apologies for not updating this blog frequently. I've been so busy with school projects and tests, hence not having time to go food-hopping. Secondly,  HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL OF YOU! :) :) To make up for the rare updates, I'm going to review about one of these amazing Vegetarian Restaurant I went to few weeks ago!

Place
Gokul Vegetarian is a rather small scale restaurant. It can probably sit around 40-50 pax at most? That's just my estimation, it may be wrong >.< Despite it being not as wide compared to other restaurants, it gave me a rather homely and cozy feeling :) (Sorry, didn't take any on-site images.)

Food
I went to the restaurant with my dad and second sister. As it was our first trip there, we did not know how big their food portion was. Thus, we ordered one dish each. (We regretted our choice!)

 Paper Dosa

 CHECK OUT THE SIZE! I've never seen a Paper Dosa that huge before. If you think that it's just my camera angle, I will tell you right now that NO, It's really that huge. (I'm probably overreacting to some of you but it's my first time ordering this dish back then, so my family and I were so shocked by it!) 

Reviews: My comment on the Paper Dosa will be how oily it is, though its suppose to be like that, I think. Health concious people, do not order it. However, the red sauce on the other side of the curry indeed tasted really well with the Paper Dosa. I think it's kind of a unique sauce here because the other restaurant I went in Little India did not serve it with Paper Dosa when I ordered it. Note that only the curry sauce is hot while the other two is cold :) My dad and sister loved this dish. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. ($4.50)  

Mee Soup

Reviews: You guys must be thinking why would we order such common dish. (Blame my sister) Despite such common dish, we do like how the soup is rather thick, with a strong taste. On a side note, I would comment that its slightly oily. Other than that, it's rather similar to the Fishball Noodle soup sold outside :) ($7.50)

Claypot Malabar Briyani 

Reviews: Since it was a new and recommended dish by other reviewers, I decided to gave it a try! :) It smells awesome. The scent woke up all my senses and I couldn't wait to try it out! It's exactly like claypot rice, the "meat" was all hidden at the base just between the rice. Honestly speaking, I got a little sick of the "meat" after consuming it too much. It had this weird taste, like canned mock meat. It's different from other mock meat. Other than that, nothing else that's bad! I personally like this dish a lot due to the "curry" taste of the rice itself. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. ($12)

Claypot Briyani 

Reviews: This dish is rather simple. Similarly to the claypot malabar, it has mock meat at the base of the dish. Compared to the previous claypot rice, this dish is more plain and light. But the spices that they used made the basmati rice tastier. If you prefer a lighter taste dish, choose this :) My dad liked this dish better than the other. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. ($12) 

Service 

Their service was rather prompt. Food was served to us quickly, we didn't have to wait long. In addition to that, the owner of this restaurant had also approached our table to ask about our satisfaction of the food :) 

Conclusion: I would actually highly recommend everybody to give this restaurant a try. Be it whether you are a vegetarian or not. Even though it's rather hard to get there unless you have a car or you take the taxi, it's worth the price and time. Then again, this is based on my personal experience and thinking. Different people may have different preferences ^^

Refuel Cafe @ Bedok Reservoir

Hey peeps! A new cafe just opened up at Bedok Reservoir! What's good about this cafe is that it is STILL not well-known yet, so not very crowded! ^^ YAY! Soooo , below are my reviews of it.

Place
Refuel cafe is not that big. Tucked in the corner of a row of shops, it can probably fit about 20-25-30 people thereabouts? The seatings are also kinda "close" to one another so yeap. MY APOLOGIES, I WAS TOO EXCITED I DIDN'T SNAP ANY SITE IMAGES :( I WILL DO IT WHEN I GO BACK AGAIN! SORRRYYY :(

Food
My friend and I ordered a dish each to share with one another. :)

I just needed to post this two up cause I love the photography I did. HAHAHA.

Fuel Me Up
This dish was kinda like a "starter" for us instead. It has "sausage balls baked w mushrooms, tomatoes, peppers, egg and sauce". Toast is also served with it.

Reviews: Firstly, the toast is really crispy so both of us like it :) It would suck if they served us soggy bread instead >< When you first try this dish, it's still fine. The taste of tomatoes was really strong, kinda like pasta sauce. The semi rare egg was definitely yummy^^ However, the sausage balls wasn't to any of our liking because it contained herb that both my friend and I hated. Gradually, we got a little too "tired" of this dish so we didn't finish it. RECOMMEND to people whom are a huge fan of the ingredients used. 

Creamy Shrimps Pasta

Review: This dish taste EXACTLY the same as 49 seats' TomYum Seafood Pasta. We had the same thoughts when we took the first bite. I was rather disappointed as I kinda expected something different. Yes, there may be a slight ingredient difference in them but all I can think of when I had this dish was 49 seats. It would be good if Refuel Cafe could twist the spicy cream sauce such that it taste different compared to 49 seats. They will then leave an impression on consumer's mind. For me, I DO NOT RECOMMEND this dish. Try something else here. 

Service

There wasn't much interaction between us and the staff. The only comment that I have on their service would be efficiency. The waitresses were rather quick in clearing plates and cups once they see that you're done with it. Even though efficiency can be good, clearing too fast makes us think that they are chasing us away once we are done :( So yeah. Other than that, nothing much :)

Conclusion: Refuel Cafe is a nice place to chill and relax. It's also a nice place to catch up with 1 or 2 friends :) I will definitely recommend you guys to patronize the cafe. Give other dishes that they offer a try :) They might be better than the ones we ordered. I've attached the menu below for your reference too :) Oh and they do not charge any GST nor Service Charge!

Supply & Demand @ Orchard Gateway.

How are you folks! ^^ I'm so sorry for not updating frequently yeah! Today, I'll be sharing w you about "Supply & Demand", an Italian Restaurant. It has been rather well-known among my friends. I often see photos about this place on instagram and twitter. Therefore, I went to try it out with my friends! :) Below are my reviews :)

Place
It was about 9pm when we headed over to "Supply & Demand". I would definitely encourage all of you to go earlier as there wasn't seats available by the time we went there. S&D has two seating areas. The outdoor (as in the corridor of the mall in front of S&D) area has little seating capacity, can probably fit about 15-20 guests. Whereas the main seating which is inside the shop will fit perhaps more than 50-60 guests. Of course, this is all my estimation. The setting of the place is rather dark yet cozy despite being packed. It has nice decoration too.

(You are just waiting for this, ain't you!^^)
Among the 3 of us whom ordered, 2 of my friends had the same dish while I ordered a pasta. An additional order of truffle fries was also ordered because the scent was so attracting as we waited for seats!
Truffle Fries

Review: The scent of truffle was so strong that we could smell it even though we can't see it. As oily as it seem, it tasted not too bad actually. Yes truffle fries may taste just so ordinary but S&D's chefs did season it with garlic. (Look at the big clove of garlic on top of the fries!) Therefore, with the hint of garlic coupled w truffle, it is a tiny weeny different from other places! :) However, eating too much made us kinda sick so we din't finish it. RECOMMEND

Carbonara Cremosa
I've been craving for pasta so badly so I decided to settle for a plate of Carbonara! 

Review: Firstly, the portion of the pasta was rather big so I didn't manage to finish it. Regretted not ordering a tasting portion instead :( Well, the pasta was very chewy and it tasted really well with the bacon among it. I kinda like it a lot actually, tho I didn't manage to finish it. Haha. However, I added a lot of chilli flakes cause I couldn't eat anything without spices. RECOMMEND. $17.

Chicken

Both of my friends decided to order just "Chicken" and the chef will do it his/her way. You can also have the choice of "beef" or "fish". 

Review: The chicken came with salad and potatoes as side dish. You probably couldn't tell but the portion was actually quite big and my friends couldn't finish it as well. Based on my friends comments, the chicken tasted really well with the sauce drizzled on top. It was cooked just nice, not dry nor bloody inside. It's also rather juicy with the oil shining on the meat as you cut it apart. $17. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. 

Service

The service is UNBELIEVABLY GOOD. Despite on a full-house that night, the service staff caters to each of their guests with passion. My friends and I added up to a total of 6 person. However, only a table for 4 was available. Therefore, we had to squeeze together. Halfway through our meal, another table for 4 was available. The service staff immediately initiated to combine tables for us so that we'll be comfortable. From here, we can see how considerate they are. Food was also served quickly. It's their service that makes people come back for more. 

Conclusion: No doubt I will encourage you guys to give Supply and Demand a try. Their chicken especially would be a dish that I recommend, PROVIDED you like potatoes and salad. HAHAHA. Furthermore, they do serve beers and wine. Hence, it's a good place for a date or even gathering with your friends ;)

Hey peeps! :)

Today I'll be doing a review on the Founder Bak Kut Teh. I came upon this Founder Bak Kut Teh since my friend posted a photo of it on Instagram. I google this place and it seemed rather famous hence I convinced my dad to go and give it a try. :)

What we ordered : 

- Salted Vegetable     - Tau Kee 

- You Tiao                 - Pig Trotter

- Bak Gut Teh 

Food Review 

In general , the side dishes taste alright , just like the typical side dishes from the other Bak Gut Teh Restaurants. The Pig Trotter was filled with fats and meat , it was definitely my dad's favorite. ^^ 

As for the main dish , the "Founder Bak Gut Teh" , I feel like it's a little too overrated. The soup was perfect but the meat was a little too dry and it has this "pig smell" when you are about to eat it. People whom know what smell I'm referring to are technically more sensitive and therefore they wouldn't be able to savor it. E.g. My dad. He took a bite of the meat and the smell was so overwhelming to him that he couldn't take a second bite.  

Price Review

It cost $40++ for the amount of food we ordered. ( 3 person ) In my opinion , it's not worth it. Considered rather costly compared to the other Bak Gut Teh restaurants I've been to. 

Conclusion

Based on my preferences , I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to my family or friends. I feel that the it's too costly and it doesn't taste as fantastic as what other people says. Then again , you can still give it a try and perhaps leave a comment below and tell me how you find it! :) I believe everyone would have different opinions due to differing tastes preferences. ^^

Marriott Cafe @ Singapore Marriott Hotel

Heyheyhey Everybody! Hope all of you are doing well ^^ I went for a buffet spree at Marriott Hotel last week and today , I'll be doing a review on it today! :)

Atmosphere
The dining area was very spacious , tables are widely spread and you wouldn't feel any constraint walking around. Hence , you feel like you dined at ease. It's peaceful and quiet except for 1/2 person making clinks and clangs times to times again. Yet overall , it's a good place to catch up with friends if you like to go for buffet spree w them.

This is just one part of the dining area! There was still another part behind me!
Too busy eating so dint take HAHA.

Food
In general , I would say that Marriott did have an extensive range of food offered. However , they have very limited seafood ( 3-4 kinds ) . I think among the entire buffet spread , the main focus was on the dessert instead. It seemed like great effort was put into the desserts instead. ( You'll understand when you see the photos! ) Also , they don't replenish the seafood when it's finished. They substitute it with another type of seafood. E.g. When the crayfish finished , they switched to crab legs.

Fried lotus^^

Insane bread types but the cheese types wasn't much.

It wasn't really sweet :(

The smoked salmon wasn't that nice but he szechuan salmon was nice :)

I had 4 plates of this. Trust me. HAHAHA.

Oysters , Crayfish , Prawns , Mussels.

Fried salmon. Not to my liking though. Prefer it raw haha.

My sister took a big plate of this chicken rice and the ginseng chix soup!

I LOVED THIS TOMATO FRIED EGGS^_^

Pesto Gnocchi.

I absolutely loved the cheese cake! (The white/yellow one!)

Elaborated cake.

As you can see , dessert station was very elaborated and many people had their attention to it!

Service
The service staff there was very helpful and prompt to clear for us. Their service was top-notch. There are times where your plates aren't filled with shells yet and they are already there to help you empty those plate of shells. They also helped to ask if we needed any coffee or tea. A lady also provided us with lemon water for us to wash our hands due to the seafood. Hence , I'm very pleased with their service.

Conclusion
In my opinion , I don't really liked their buffet spread. It was rather limited , especially their seafood. I very much prefer Carousel's over theirs. Hence , I wouldn't recommend to my family nor friends. Of course, this is my personal opinion :) If you would like to try , you can still go for it :) But it's kinda costly though , 3 person cost 160++ for a LUNCH buffet. It didn't cost me that much at Carousel for 4 pax. Do consider about it before going :)

Bibigo Singapore

How are you doing guys :) It has been quite awhile but today , i'm going to review on Bibigo , a restaurant that provides authentic korean cuisine ^^ They have 3 outlets in Singapore , I patronized the one at Raffles City Shopping Centre.

Atmosphere
Bibigo is situated at the basement of Raffles City Shopping Centre , among the other restaurants. It's rather peaceful in the restaurant itself , a rather nice place to catch up with some friends over a meal :)

Food
My friends and I each ordered a different dish so that I would be able to review more dishes.

Spicy Soft Tofu Stew ( Seafood ) 

Review : For spice lovers , you will love this dish as their soup is rather spicy , not just on the mild level. The seafood was also fresh and it tasted fantastic. Of course , you have the option of having pork/seafood. Besides kimchi , sides served was very different , we couldn't put to taste what it really was. You also have the choice of rice served , white/black/barley&white/white&white. Playing safe , my friend chose the white.

Hot Stone Bibimbap 

Review : This dish is probably super duper tasty because my friend licked the bowl clean! It's kinda similar to claypot rice in some sense as the rice was in a hot stone so rice placed at the bottom gets a little burnt. But that is what makes it smells and taste good :) There's also flexibility in choosing the rice , sauce and toppings to come with! Hence , this bibimbap is in a "made your own way" mode! :) 

Bibimbap ( Vegetarian version ) 

Review : Some of you may be wondering , why did I order something vegetarian. I know that there has been growth in vegetarian consumers out there so I wanted to try and see if Bibigo has something for the vegetarian people. Initially I didn't see any on the menu so I asked the staff. The lady told me bibimbap was the only dish a vegetarian can consume. So I chose it and she stated that I can choose the rice while everything else will be specially done by the chef. I went with barley&white rice and wow , barley rice tasted wonderful! As for toppings , the chef gave me radish , broccoli , mushrooms , beansprouts , tofu and 2 kinds of vegetables I haven't came across. Surprisingly , it didn't taste awful!Tasteless? Not at all! With the sauce mixed in , everything tasted WONDERFUL! Try it!

Conclusion : I'm really satisfied with the food served , definitely enjoyed my lunch there. The service staff was also friendly and had the patience to wait by the table for us to make a decision on toppings etc. In addition , they had card promotions ongoing so your spending decreased by quite a bit! I will definitely patronize again someday. :)
